SMS messaging program

Last updated: July 14, 2026

Program summary

Paymentron LLC (“Paymentron”) provides software that lets a business (“Merchant”) send transactional SMS reminders to that Merchant’s own customers about past-due invoices, including a secure link to pay. Paymentron is not a debt collection agency and does not buy or rent consumer phone lists.

Who receives messages

End users are customers of the Merchant with an existing business relationship and an open or past-due invoice. Phone numbers are provided by the Merchant from their accounting system (QuickBooks or Xero) or customer contact records used for billing and service communications.

Message flow / how consent works

  1. The end user does business with the Merchant and receives an invoice. The Merchant stores the customer’s mobile number in the ordinary course of business for account and billing contact.
  2. The Merchant connects QuickBooks or Xero to Paymentron and imports past-due invoices.
  3. The Merchant reviews follow-up message content in Paymentron before anything sends.
  4. The Merchant must complete payment setup (Stripe) and explicitly authorize SMS by enabling follow-ups and checking a consent box that authorizes Paymentron to send automated SMS (and email) on overdue invoices using the Merchant’s branding and payment portal. See the merchant authorization example below.
  5. Only after that authorization does Paymentron send spaced transactional SMS about that customer’s own past-due invoice, including a secure payment link.
  6. The end user may reply STOP to opt out of further SMS, or HELP for help. The Merchant may also pause follow-ups for a customer or invoice in Paymentron at any time.

This program is not a public marketing keyword subscription (e.g. texting JOIN from a website form). Opt-in is based on the Merchant–customer relationship plus the Merchant’s explicit authorization in Paymentron.

Merchant authorization (hosted opt-in UI)

Before SMS is enabled, Merchants must confirm authorization in the Paymentron app. The consent language shown in-product is:
